The current-generation Durango has been around for over a decade, but you wouldn’t know it from the inside. The cabin has aged well thanks to constant tweaks and updates. Lots of padded surfaces and soft-touch plastics, especially in the upper trim and interior styling Bold and elegant.

The cabin does a good job of filtering out most external noise. Overall, it’s a nice place to sit. Dodge offers the Durango a standard 8.4-inch or an available 10.1-inch touchscreen. Both monitors run the latest version of U connect infotainment software, one of the easiest to use on the market.

Large screen icons clear graphics and clear menu structure intuitive. Both touchscreens also respond quickly to input. There are also some physical buttons and knobs below each display to easily adjust audio or climate controls while driving.

Engine and Performance

The Durango’s optional 360-horsepower V-8 significantly improves towing capacity (up to 8,700 pounds) while the 295-horsepower V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic are a more efficient pairing. Granted, the Durango doesn’t surpass its four-cylinder rivals in fuel economy, but For some buyers the trade-off for the more entertaining V-8 and its burly towing capacity may be worth it.

We tested V-6 and V-8 engines with a standard eight-speed automatic and optional all-wheel drive. Durango with V-6 does zero to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds; V-8 does it in 6.2 seconds. The Dodge’s suspension walks well between sportiness and comfort, but steering feel and braking performance remind you that you’re driving an SUV.

While the Durango’s rear-wheel-drive platform isn’t overtly sporty, it’s a great addition to the Durango and Its muscle car persona shines in everyday use. It still manages to provide a comfortable ride, making it a family-friendly SUV that’s fun and easy to live in.
