The Lexus UX is being redesigned for the 2023 model year. The biggest change is the front end, which features a new grille and headlights. The taillights have also been updated. The interior gets a new infotainment system and there are some new safety features as well.
Some cars are designed to make you think they’re SUVs—the Subaru Outback and Volvo V60 Cross Country come to mind—but the 2023 Lexus UX is an SUV that best looks and feels like a car. It shares its platform with every inch of passenger Toyota Prius Car Like the Prius the UX is a hybrid — basically last year’s UX250h hybrid with a few updates.
All UXs come with a 181-horsepower powertrain that combines three electric motors to predictably, four-cylinder engine, a continuously variable transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Predictably, the result is nimble acceleration coupled with higher fuel economy ratings than many other small SUVs.
The interior is comfortable and well-appointed, SUV, and the UX also offers plenty of standard tech and safety equipment. But when it comes to doing something like an SUV, Cargo-carrying rivals like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLB Class offer more practicality.
Lexus has dropped the non-hybrid UX200 model from the 2023 lineup, making all-wheel-drive hybrid system standard. Lexus says it has made changes to the UX’s chassis and suspension to improve handling and ride quality.
What’s new for Lexus’ smallest crossover for 2023?
We can only confirm after we confirm to drive this latest model. A new F Sport handling package is available on F Sport models, which includes adaptive dampers. Lexus also installed a more modern Lexus interface touchscreen infotainment system in the UX this year. The updated software appears to be updated and provides integrated voice assistant over-the-air updates as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
What happened to the Lexus UX 200?
An 8.0-inch display is standard, but the system looks best on the larger, optional 12.3-inch screen. The infotainment display has been repositioned so both the driver and the front are within reach, Gone are the annoying touchpad controllers for passengers and company.
We’d go for the F Sport version, which brings a sportier suspension more supportive front seats and a sleeker-looking instrument cluster — among other enhancements.
Of the two packages available, we’d go for the premium option, which includes better heated front seats rain-sensing windshield wipers Interior materials and sunroof. Finally, we recommend adding a head-up display heated steering wheel electric tailgate and wireless charging.
The Lexus UX is powered by a 181-horsepower four-cylinder hybrid system mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and standard all-wheel drive. The UX250h we tested in 2019 proved to be semi-sleep, taking 8.6 seconds to hit 60 mph.
Thankfully, it has good steering feel and quiet refinement that proved more than enough to help make up for its lack of agility. The F Sport package brings a sportier tone to the 18-inch suspension wheels on run-flat tires and unique interior and exterior appointments.

Thanks to the attractive layout and luxurious materials, the Lexus interior ensures passengers know this is a luxury vehicle. It also boasts a range of standard features, including dual-zone climate control and power-adjustable front seats. The experience can be enhanced with options such as heating and heating Ventilated front seats with a head-up display and sleeker materials.
While the back seat is far from roomy, it’s also not as cramped as one might think. Unfortunately, the cargo area behind these seats is small. We managed to fit only four carry-on suitcases. In contrast, we can pack three extra carry-on luggage in the rear of the BMW X1.
