At an EPA-estimated 22 MPG combined for the rear-wheel-drive model and 21 MPG for the four-wheel-drive truck the Tundra’s hybrid system is 7 MPG more efficient than the outgoing model’s 5.7-liter V-8. Its two-wheel drive is rated up to 20 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway while adding four-wheel drive it’s down 1 MPG in the city and 2 MPG on the highway.
The EPA estimates the 2022 Toyota Tundra Hybrid will get up to 22 MPG combined 7 MPG more than the outgoing V-8 model.
The force MAX hybrid uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 paired with an electric motor and a NiMH battery pack.

To improve efficiency the 2022 Toyota Tundra replaces the previous model’s 5.7-liter V-8 with a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6. Sandwiched between the engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission the Tundra’s electric motor adds 48 horsepower for a total output of 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque.

Even the non-hybrid twin-turbo V-6 is more efficient than the outgoing naturally aspirated V-8. But at 20 MPG the standard iForce is 2 MPG less efficient than the Ram 1500 with a 3.6-liter V-6 and a 48-volt hybrid-assist Ram called torque.
